Nice writing, if you have any question about Odoo don't hesitate to drop them. I've been working with it for almost 5 year now

What kind of work have you done with it? I'm fascinated - probably mostly because my perspective has been shaped by the ENORMOUS, SAP-and-its-ilk software systems.

Yeah Odoo and SAP are kind of two end of the spectrum of ERP software in many metrics. I also like to learn about the "big" erp systems as it is such a different world than what i know.

I started to work for an integrator, that sell customization of the software for customers that need more functionalities than the standard. For example there was the organization that manage the finances of the church in my country, no existing accounting system fitted their need as is. Or a company manufacturing figurines that wanted their website and their inventory management to be integrated in a single system.

Now I work for a company that has verticalized the open source version of Odoo to serve as an interface to access the other applications that we develop for our customers. So we have no more connection with Odoo than we have with GNU or the Apache fondation.

If you feel like sharing the company you work at now, I’d love to dig in further on that verticalization story.

The name is batitrade (myconfigurator for the internationally focused branding), but the website won't really explain much on how it works.

Basically we develop configurator for our customers (not with odoo), to allow them to make precise quotations with nice visuals. But then the question is how to manage these quotations, so they have two options. A. They use our API to connect the configurators into whatever system they already use for quotation or B. We create an instance of our customized odoo that is connected to these configurators. Much simpler for the customers as they don't need to develop anything.
